For the first time in years I am home alone this weekend. The rest of the family are away, doing and seeing. I deliberately haven't booked anything, I haven't arranged a thing, the weekend stretches out ahead of me in a lovely expanse of unfilled time. I can go see a film, read a book, meet friends or stay home and wallow in the silence. I'm not sure yet what I'll do, but I'll appreciate every minute of it until the dirty washing and noise comes home on Sunday evening. Enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.
Enjoy your me-time where ever you are! x
ReplyDeleteMe too.. home alone, but just for the day, today. This is something really unusual for me now since my husband was forced into early retirement a year ago. Since then, he has been home all the time, and even if not in the house, or in another room, he has been Here, the presence felt, the buffer against life's little crises. So, he has gone off for the day; I have a picnic basket with posh sandwiches from a certain supermarket, posh crisps and millionaire's shortbread ditto, a small bag of prepared fruit, juice and I am going to catch up on films recorded and not yet seen... nothing too heavy... The Devil Wears Prada, Marley and Me and one other I can't recall the title of. I shall have a lovely lovely lazy day, once I have answered emails, washed floors, prepared chilli for the evening meal.
ReplyDeleteI shall enjoy it, and I hope you enjoyed yours, however you spend it.
It's so so wonderful to have the luxury of being alone. I hope you enjoyed it, and didn't do what I usually do: get sidelined by a petty task like cleaning the sock drawer!
ReplyDeleteThank you Belinda, I stayed round home and chilled out, enjoyed the silence and in the evening did the same as Maggie, watched a chick movie (Love And Other Drugs - funny). I did do some chores Maggie A H, but tried to keep it to a minimum. I broke the silence on Sunday morning by going out treasure hunting with my cool-hunter friend, it was her weekend to find, so I helped her load the treasure into the car.
ReplyDeleteI loved the silence, the lack of arrangements and the ability to do exactly as I pleased.
It gave me a peek of what life will be like one day in the future. But now, the noise is back home, and so is the washing, and I'm very glad it is. Have a great week.
I came back to see if you had posted an update on your weekend alone. It sounds as if you enjoyed having time that was just for you. I've always needed more of it than most and it's funny to have so much of it now.
